How to prevent genital warts from spreading



Genital warts are small fleshy growths, bumps or skin changes that appear on or around the genital or anal area. Genital warts are very common. they are the second most common type of sexually transmitted infection (STI) after chlamydia.

How to prevent genital warts from spreading
Take all precautions to stop the spread. Avoid unprotected sexual relations or multiple partners. Genital warts are very contagious and can be transmitted by one person to another. When a person starts to get sexually active, there is a risk getting this virus. The risk is higher with people who engage with multiple partners and unprotected sexual activity.

Avoid oral sex. Mouth to mouth transmission is not common but still the virus can be passed along that way. The virus can be passed along from the mouth down to the throat once oral sex has been performed.

Protect yourself during sexual relations. Unprotected sex poses a much higher risk of transmission because of the direct skin to skin contact involved. The more the skin contact you have with an infected person, the higher is the risk even if you try to cover it.

Seek medical help as early as possible so that you won’t risk your partner with the infection. Regardless if it is a spur of the moment or you really feel like getting into sexual activity, still there is a need to be responsible because genital warts are the most common HPV virus anybody can acquire.
